Ezekiel Chapter One – Chalkboard/Plan [Studio View]
Slate and colored chalk – 6’x 4’
Note cards, graphite, ink, photographic prints – 66”x 44”. 2004.
A grid of one hundred twenty-one 6”x 4” note cards is overlaid with a pattern of interlocking, colored circles. The lines and colors on each note card are reproduced sequentially, in colored chalk, on a 6’x 4’ slate chalkboard. After each image is translated to the chalkboard, the chalk translation is digitally photographed and erased. As the process progresses, the resulting photographic prints replace their respective note cards in the grid. Eventually the photographs replace the grid completely.
